Subnet Scout

Support

Subnet Scout is a native app for Mac, iPhone, and iPad that discovers devices and services on your local IPv4 network.

Before scanning

If a device is missing

Sleeping devices, client isolation, firewalls, VPN routing, and separate network segments can prevent discovery. On iPhone and iPad, check that Subnet Scout is enabled under Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network.

Platform differences

On Mac, MAC addresses and vendor names are best effort and normally require the device to be on the same local network segment. iOS and iPadOS do not expose the system neighbor table to apps, so MAC addresses and vendor names are unavailable on iPhone and iPad. Bonjour discovery on iPhone and iPad is limited to service types declared by the installed app version.

Sharing and Mac exports

On Mac, use the Share menu to export visible results as CSV or JSON. On iPhone and iPad, use the share button on a device to share its IP address. Information is shared or saved only when you choose to do so.

Requires macOS 15 or later, or iOS/iPadOS 18 or later.
